Turkish American Derya Taskin will participate as one of the 14 New Jersey delegates when the 538 electors of the Electoral College from the 50 states and the District of Columbia cast their official votes for president and vice president on December 14, 2020.  Since Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden won the popular vote in New Jersey on November 3, the Democratic Party selected the 14 delegates.  The counting of the official Electoral College vote will be in a joint session of the U.S. Congress, an assembly of members of the Senate and House of Representatives, on January 6, 2021.

Taskin is a businesswoman who is active in the Democratic Party and has served as the Deputy Mayor of Paterson, NJ.  She is also a leader in the Turkish American community and is an executive committee member of the National Coalition of Turkish American Women Political Action Committee – (NC-TAW PAC) under the Ten Thousand Turks Campaign.
