On September 11, Turkish Americans in the Washington, D.C, Maryland, Virginia area held a “town hall meeting” and discussion with Lale M. Morrison, Congressman Alcee L. Hastings‘ (D-FL/20th) Chief of Staff, over delicious Turkish food and drinks at Kazan Restaurant in McLean, VA.
TC USA PAC Treasurer G. Lincoln McCurdy and TC NE PAC Treasurer Mert Kayan gave opening remarks on the importance of Turkish American political engagement. Morrison discussed how she was able to contribute to the Turkish-American community through her work on Capitol Hill. She also shared her experiences interacting with constituents and her views on the upcoming midterm elections.
This meeting is part of a series, facilitated by Turkish Coalition Northeast Political Action Committee, TC-NE PAC, where members of the Turkish American community regularly get together, hear from those who are active in American politics, explore opportunities to better influence their future, and network with others.
